Rare and refined in equal measure, Pecora Nera® is an exclusive wool garnered from dark-hued Merino sheep only – an arbiter of difference, originality, and excellence and a fine example that when we follow our convictions, the extraordinary is revealed.

From farm to fibre, through Loro Piana’s processes involving various artisans, partners, and professionals, to the finished product it is now possible to trace these precious fabrics across the production chain via the Aura Blockchain Consortium.

From sheep to hand

Everything starts with the Merino sheep, each distinguished by unique colours with rich variations – from white and beige to grey, brown, and black.

A journey of transformation

The fibres are left undyed and meticulously classed by Loro Piana’s Masters of Fibre to guarantee a uniform colouration – creating a palette of unexpected and nuanced natural shades which marry perfectly together.

Craftsmanship in motion

The precious wool is refined and combed into long strands of undyed raw fibre which is then bundled according to colour.

Inside the atelier

Using meticulous craftsmanship, the fibres are spun into delicate thread, in preparation for the weaving process.

A harmonious effect

The undyed fibres are woven into fabric, creating unique patterns with balanced, warm shades of black, brown, and beige.
